Have you ever wanted to stay in a treehouse in Oregon? The Vertical Horizons Treehouse Paradise in Cave Junction has four treehouses to choose from. Just north of the redwood forest, and close to Southern Oregon beaches, these treehouses are worth a visit!
About The Property
Photography on this blog is in collaboration with Melissa Miller and Emilie Hofferber.
Located in the Illinois Valley of Cave Junction, the paradise is 5 hours from Portland and 3 hours from Eugene.
This treehouse paradise in Oregon was built in 2004, and hosts guests year round. While it used to be a bed and breakfast, they no longer offer it. However the owners told us that you can pay for it and request in advance. During the summer months there is a pool on the property that can be used for guests. Keep in mind that the homeowners live on site, and you might not have full privacy as it is a working rental property.
There is a large bonfire area that the homeowners offer to light for you during your stay. This is placed in the front of their home, where you have an expansive view of sunset and the valley the home sits in, the Illinois Valley. Quite stunning!
It is important to keep in mind that the homeowners are able to cancel reservations for inclement weather conditions: smoke, fire, extreme winds, snow.
Since these treehouses do not come with cooking supplies, it is essential to pack your own just like you are going camping. The property does have a shared cooking area with a BBQ that you can use as well. Be sure to ask the host about this when you arrive or before you book.
The Excalifer
We had a hard time deciding which treehouse to stay in while we were here. We didn’t realize until we got there that there were 4 treehouses to choose from. The owners just started using Air BNB and hadn’t listed all of the properties. We were still enchanted by the Excalifer because of how big it was! Plus, the cathedral ceilings upstairs with two balconies sealed the deal for us. It hardly felt like a treehouse to be honest, since it was so large on the inside.
This treehouse has a full bathroom, two queen size beds, a fold out couch, microwave, mini fridge, television and DVD player, and heat.
The Shitake
Since we got there before other guests, we were able to poke our heads around the other treehouses and photograph them from the outside. The Shitake is on our list for next time, as it looks so cute on the inside and the outside. They don’t rent this out until the warmer months of the year due to the amount of energy it takes to heat it.
With a beautiful wrap around porch and one tree on the inside, the Shitake is a truly suspended by the trees! In this treehouse you will find: a fold out futon, two full size beds, small refrigerator, toilet with curtain, and hot pot. This treehouses is furthest away from the main house, giving a lot of privacy. There are many windows in this treehouse, which makes it look like its out of a storybook.
The Cottage
This treehouse has beautiful views of the farm pastures below it. With an A-frame design in the front of the treehouse, the beautiful windows look appealing. There is also a deck on the front of the cabin, giving you privacy to enjoy being outside.
Inside the cottage treehouse there is a loft with one full sized bed, and below another. There is a half bath with a toilet and sink and a door that shuts. There is a small pot for heating water, and a mini refrigerator.
The Calypso
This tudor style treehouse immediately gets your attention by the outside of it. There is a beautiful bridge that you walk on to access the treehouse.
Inside there is one queen sized bed, a small refrigerator, toilet, and sink. This treehouse has heat and is rented year round. The perfect treehouse for a couple!
