What To Do In Packwood?
Depending on the time of year, Packwood Washington is stunning no matter what season you choose to visit.
Mount Rainier National Park: Just 1.5 hours from the southern entrance of Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park, home to some of the most beautiful wildflowers in the park come August, or a snowshoe destination in winter. Be aware of road closures by visiting the park website in advance.
Hike High Hut Trail: An hour and a half from Packwood Washington is the High Hut trail in Tahoma State Forest. We came to this cabin after our hike in the winter and I cannot recommend this combination more.
Packwood Brewery: Delicious brews and tacos, Packwood is a great place to stop for dinner or after a hike. Restaurants in Packwood Washington are few and far between, so it is best to prepare before visiting. I was pleasantly surprised by the homemade smoked meat tacos and margarita options for a brewery! We loved it. Just 5 minutes from the Basecamp cabin.
Nachos Packwood: One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve had in the Pacific Northwest, truly! A family owned restaurant in Packwood Washington is a great place to fill up after a long hike. From large margaritas to sizzling fajitas, everything we had at Nachos was clearly homemade.
White Pass Ski Area: More of a locals mountain and less visited compared to other ski areas in Washington, White Pass is just 25 minutes from Packwood Washington making it a great place to stay as you ski. Be sure to check their website for updates, lift tickets, and reservations.
