Odell Lake is a beautiful setting to visit in any season. Shelter Cove Resort is open year round, making it accessible as the roads are plowed. We booked one of the eight cabins alongside the lake.
In this blog post you will find information on the cabins, campgrounds, and where to hike in the area.
Where Is Odell Lake?
Odell Lake is about 1.5 hours from Eugene, making it an easy weekend or day trip excursion. It is right across the street from Willamette Pass, a locals ski resort. Which is why we stayed, it’s only a 10 minute drive to the base of the lodge.
Shelter Cove Resort and Marina
The resort has 8 cabins, a lodge, an office and gift shop, and 70 RV sites.
We stayed in the PCT Studio Cabin while we were there. It is dog friendly, has a full kitchen and bathroom, and views of the lake right outside your doorstep.
All of the cabins vary in size! There is something for everybody, including large groups. Pro Tip: Book directly through them vs. Airbnb to save on booking fees!
In the summertime motorized boats are allowed on the lake, making it a great place for fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. I cannot wait to come back in summertime to visit.
Everybody who works at Shelter Cove lives on site, giving it a community feel. There is a community fire pit that they light up at night, a convenience store with basic necessities (beer, ice, snacks, fishing supplies). During the summer months Hook and Talon Cafe is open serving lunch and dinner items. Be sure to check the schedule for hours and always plan ahead with your own food as there isn’t much in the area.
