Where is the treehouse with the bathtubs?
The Heartland Treehouse in Langlois, Oregon is the most popular treehouse stay I have had yet-and for good reason. The unique outdoor duel bathtubs accompanied by a sauna, outdoor shower, and a cozy treehouse. My friend Melissa and I stayed here last year, and it blew up on social media. The owner reached out to me recently and said that we completely sold it out for an entire year! If only we could get commision for the bookings, lol!
Melissa and I were lucky to snag a spot before the popularity of this place increased. Be sure to book this one in advance, it is worth it.
What to Expect?
What to expect? This treehouse is a glamping experience. If you’re not comfortable using a composting toilet and getting a little cold at night, this might not be the stay for you.
I consider it a glamping for a number of reasons. There is a composting toilet which is downstairs from the 1 room treehouse that you sleep in. A composting toilet doesn’t flush and there is no heat. I would suggest bringing your own camp stove as theirs could be replaced. Amenities include:
- mini fridge
- heat inside; but does get chilly in winter. Pack a sleeping bag
- french press and kettle
- outdoor kitchen with hot pot and cooking materials
- TV and DVD player
- outdoor grill with propane
- outdoor bathtubs and shower heated with propane
- gas fire pit
PRO TIP: If you run out of propane like we did from taking constant baths (I mean how could we not LOOK AT THEM), drive up to the top of the hill to get Wi-Fi and text the owner, he brought us fresh propane.
When to book?
For good reason this treehouse is booking out until January of 2023. When I share this treehouse online people are stunned by that. Honestly though, the outdoor propane bathtubs surrounded by moss covered trees is a very unique aspect of this treehouse.
Plus, it’s an actual treehouse! It sways a little bit and its highly set up above a river bank that you can hear. There is a giant porch that would be great for warmer weather. It rained the entire time we were there so when we weren’t soaking in the outdoor clawfoot bathtubs, we were inside watching Planet Earth.
Located off a logging road, we were a little alarmed at the sound of a loud giant truck buzzing by at 5am. A good way to avoid this is booking on the weekends when they are hopefully not working. We weren’t super stoked about this part to be honest. Quickly that worry went aside because we were swooning over the bathtubs.
No Wi-fi or Cell Phone Service
As somebody who is on my phone way too much, not having cell phone service was a big selling point to this treehouse stay. Also, no wifi so this is truly a time to unplug from the real world and relax.
Driving west to the top of the hill will get you cell phone service. Langlois is the closest town west of the treehouse to get cell phone service before continuing on your journey. Be sure to stop at Floras Creek Coffee at the base of the hill. There is also a local market that sells fresh meats, wine, and basic necessities you might need. We realized we didn’t pack enough wine so it saved the day.

Near-by Adventure Ideas
If you’re like us, we found no reason to leave once we arrived. We also stopped along the way from Humboldt to hike rather than arriving and leaving again. It’s about 30 minutes from Langlois up the hill to the treehouse, making it more of a drive to get to local hikes.
Places you might want to visit:
- Coquille Point
- Humbug Mountain
- Port Orford Head State Park
- Oregon Coast Trail
- Floras Lake at Boice Cope Park
More details on where we we went from Humboldt north can be found on my blog post here. Stopping along the Southern Oregon coastline is also highly recommended if you have the time. I wrote a blog post here on what you can do along the way. If you plan accordingly you could even do a treehouse tour.
