FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When I moved to Oregon in 2013 I quickly started to loose track of what hikes I went on. After the encouragement of my friend Tara (The Witches Muse) I started my blog. It was more of a journal for me in the beginning. The more I started to get into backpacking and hiking-I saw an opportunity to have fun with my love of photography and writing.
I have a mix of brands that I love to wear on and off the trail. Some of my go-tos are Arc’teryx, Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, Indygena, Oboz Footwear and Danner Boots.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin. At 18 I moved away for college for Arizona-where my love for the mountains started. After college I always thought I would end up in Colorado. One of my best friends was in Oregon so I said fuck it and packed my car in 2013-never visited before and landed in Eugene.
I started hiking in 2007 when I moved to Tempe, Arizona for college. I didn't really take it too seriously then but I sure had a love for sunsets and gazing at the mountains. When I moved to Oregon in 2013 my love for hiking soared. Oregon is full of endless waterfalls, coastal hikes, and mountain views that'll leave you coming back for more.
I've always had a love of photography, but never really had enough money to fully invest into it. In 2018 I won a Sony A6500 from Sony on an Instagram giveaway. I felt like this was a call from the universe to take it more seriously. In 2020 I purchased the Sony A7ii. The current lens I use the most of is the Tamron 28-75 2.8-which is what I shoot with currently.
I went on my first "real" backpacking trip in 2017 in The Enchantments in Washington. If you've been, you know what I am talking about. We hiked the "core zone" which covers some steep terrain, not to mention most of it was covered in snow. I had never done anything so mentally and physically challenging in my life. Since then I continue to go on more treks than the summer before.
